Who it’s for

Is this course for you?

  • Career pivoters who want a skill small businesses buy every week
  • Freelancers and designers who want to deliver the whole site, not just the mock-up
  • Marketing and admin staff who look after their organisation’s website
  • You already build sites and want AI and modern block themes in your workflow

What you need

  • A laptop (Windows, Mac or Linux) that can run a browser and a local WordPress install
  • Reliable internet and data for live sessions
  • Comfort with everyday computer use. No coding experience needed
  • Optional: a domain and hosting plan for your own portfolio site (not included)
What you’ll do

Week by week

  1. Week 1

Scope the site a client actually needs

    • Run a mock client discovery call and turn it into a one-page site brief
    • Map the pages, calls to action and contact routes (WhatsApp, form, phone)
    • Set up a local WordPress install and a staging site you can break safely
  2. Weeks 2–3

Build with block themes and the site editor

    • Build headers, footers and page templates in the full site editor
    • Create reusable block patterns for services, testimonials and pricing sections
    • Style typography and colour through theme.json so the whole site stays consistent
    • Make every page work on a small Android phone first, then desktop
  3. Week 4

Write and structure content with AI help

    • Draft page copy with an AI assistant from the client brief, then edit it into the client’s voice
    • Structure headings, meta titles and descriptions for local search
    • Compress and resize images so pages load on mobile data
  4. Week 5

    Take payments and bookings

    • Set up WooCommerce with naira pricing, delivery zones and a Paystack or Flutterwave checkout
    • Add a bank-transfer fallback and order notification emails
    • Build a booking or enquiry form that lands in the client’s inbox and a spreadsheet
  5. Week 6

Secure, back up and speed up

    • Harden logins, roles and updates, and install a security plugin
    • Schedule off-site backups and restore one to prove it works
    • Measure page speed and fix the three biggest problems
  6. Weeks 7–8

    Launch and hand over

    • Point a domain, install SSL and migrate the site from staging to live
    • Connect Google Search Console and Analytics and submit the sitemap
    • Record a short handover video and write a care-plan proposal for the client
    • Present your capstone site for a practitioner review

AI in your workflow

How AI fits your workflow

AI drafts, you decide. You use an AI assistant to turn a client brief into first-draft page copy, meta descriptions, alt text and FAQ answers, then edit every line for accuracy and the client’s voice. You also use it to explain an unfamiliar plugin setting or error message, but you never paste client passwords or customer data into it.

FAQ

WordPress Web Development Mastery: your questions answered

No. You build with WordPress block themes and the site editor. We show you enough HTML and CSS to fix things when a plugin or theme gets in the way, but the course does not assume any coding.
Real websites. You build at least two live sites and a client handover pack, and a practitioner reviews your work on screen. These become the portfolio you show to clients or employers.
Many Nigerian businesses already run on WordPress and need someone to build, fix and look after it. AI builders are useful for quick drafts, and you will use AI inside your WordPress workflow, but clients still pay for a site that takes naira payments, loads on mobile data and is backed up.
Not to take the course. You build on a local install and a practice staging site. If you want your own portfolio site live on your own domain, hosting and domain costs are yours and are not included in the fee.
