Who it’s for

Is this course for you?

  • Career pivoters from banking, finance, education or admin who already work with spreadsheets
  • Recent graduates who want a skill Nigerian employers list in job posts
  • Operations, sales and finance staff who produce reports by hand every week
  • You already analyse data and want AI assistants in your workflow

What you need

  • A laptop (Windows is easiest for Power BI Desktop; Mac users can use Power BI in the browser and Looker Studio)
  • Everyday Excel or Google Sheets: sorting, filtering and simple formulas
  • Reliable internet and data for live sessions
  • No statistics or coding background needed
What you’ll do

Week by week

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Start from the business question

    • Interview a mock manager and turn vague requests into three measurable questions
    • Clean and reshape messy sales and customer data in Excel and Google Sheets
    • Build pivot tables and lookup formulas that answer the first questions
  2. Weeks 3–5

    Query data with SQL

    • Write SQL queries to filter, join and group data in PostgreSQL and BigQuery
    • Use window functions for running totals, rankings and month-on-month change
    • Check every AI-drafted query against a small sample you can verify by hand
  3. Weeks 6–8

    Build dashboards in Power BI

    • Model data into facts and dimensions so the numbers add up
    • Write DAX measures for revenue, margin, targets and growth
    • Design a one-page dashboard a busy manager can read in thirty seconds
    • Publish to the Power BI service and schedule a refresh
  4. Week 9

Report for free with Looker Studio

    • Connect Google Sheets, Google Analytics and BigQuery to Looker Studio
    • Build a shareable marketing and web performance report
  5. Week 10

    Automate the weekly report

    • Automate a manual weekly report with Power Query and scheduled refreshes
    • Use Python (pandas) in a notebook for one cleaning job that spreadsheets struggle with
  6. Weeks 11–12

Present insight and ship the capstone

    • Write a one-page insight memo with three findings and one recommendation
    • Present your dashboard to a mock management meeting and handle questions
    • Document your data sources, definitions and refresh schedule for handover

AI in your workflow

How AI fits your workflow

You use AI to go faster on the mechanical parts: drafting SQL and DAX, suggesting cleaning steps, and summarising a table. Then you prove it is right by checking results against numbers you can verify by hand. Interpreting the numbers and telling a manager what to do next stays your job, and it is the part employers value most.

FAQ

Data Analytics Professional: your questions answered

Power BI is widely requested in Nigerian analyst job posts, and Looker Studio is free. The skills you learn, modelling data and designing clear dashboards, transfer to Tableau if an employer uses it.
No. You need to be careful and curious. The course uses business arithmetic: totals, percentages, averages and growth. We teach the few statistical ideas you need when they come up.
Only with your employer’s permission, and with personal data removed. We provide realistic practice datasets for every project, and we treat data-protection obligations under the NDPA seriously in class.
AI now drafts queries and charts quickly, which removes some routine work. What it does not do reliably is check that the numbers are right or explain what a manager should do. This course trains you to do both, with AI in your workflow.
